Slaty-headed Parakeet

Psittacula himalayana

The Slaty-headed Parakeet (Psittacula himalayana) is a medium-sized parrot found in the Himalayan region and parts of Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive slaty-blue head, a red shoulder patch, and a green body. These parakeets are known for their raucous calls and are often found in flocks. They inhabit a variety of forested habitats, including montane forests, wooded valleys, and open woodland. Their diet consists of fruits, seeds, and nuts. The Slaty-headed Parakeet is considered to be of least concern by the IUCN, although its population is believed to be declining due to habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade.
