Slaty-headed Tody-Flycatcher, Poecilotriccus sylvia, is a bird of Middle and South America, breeding from southern Mexico to north-eastern Brazil. It belongs to the tyrant flycatcher family and was first described in 1806. Its range is spread across several separate areas, including countries such as Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil. It lives in thick scrub and other dense growth in forest edges, secondary woodland, overgrown clearings, pastures, gallery forest and fairly open woodland. It is mainly a bird of lowland and lower mountain country.
