Slender-billed Gull

Chroicocephalus genei (Brème, 1839)

Slender-billed Gull, Chroicocephalus genei, breeds patchily across the Palearctic and Africa, with colonies on coasts and saline lakes from the southern Iberian Peninsula and southern Europe through the Black and Caspian seas and Turkey to Central Asia, Pakistan and the far north-west of India, as well as in Mauritania, Senegal and Gambia. It also moves to the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula and western India outside the breeding season. A gull of the family Laridae, it was described by Brème in 1839. Its range is local rather than continuous, and it is tied to coastal and saline waters.
