Slender-billed Parakeet Enicognathus leptorhynchus is a parakeet of central Chile, where it is endemic and known locally as choroy. It belongs to the Psittacidae, the African and New World parrots. Its most notable feature is the very long bill that gives the bird its English name. The species is found from the Santiago Metropolitan Region to Los Lagos Region, with rare records in Aysén, and it has also been noted as a vagrant in Argentina. It lives mainly in southern beech and Chilean pine forest, and also uses nearby open country, farmland and cultivated land, especially in winter.
