Enicognathus leptorhynchus
The Slender-billed Parakeet, also known as the Enicognathus leptorhynchus, is a striking parrot species native to the temperate forests of southern Chile and southwestern Argentina. These parakeets are characterized by their long, slender bills and vibrant plumage. They are social birds often found in flocks, emitting high-pitched calls as they forage for seeds, fruits, and berries. Their adaptability to various forest types has allowed them to thrive in both primary and secondary forests. Unfortunately, habitat loss and trapping for the pet trade have led to a decline in their population in some areas.
