Smoky Pewee

Contopus fumigatus

The Smoky Pewee is a small, insect-eating bird found in the forests of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive call, which is often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. This species is generally solitary and can be found perched on branches or flying out to catch insects. The Smoky Pewee has a grayish-brown plumage with a pale belly and a darker head. It is a skilled flier and can be observed darting through the forest canopy in search of prey. Despite its small size, the Smoky Pewee plays an important role in controlling insect populations in its habitat.
