Snares crested penguin

Eudyptes moseleyi

The Snares crested penguin is a medium-sized penguin species found on the Snares Islands, a group of rocky islands south of New Zealand. These penguins have distinct yellow crests that extend from their eyes to the back of their heads, and their plumage is primarily black with a white underside. They are skilled swimmers and feed on fish, squid, and krill in the surrounding waters. Snares crested penguins breed in large colonies on the rocky shores of the islands, where they build nests from pebbles and vegetation. They are vulnerable to introduced predators and human disturbance, and conservation efforts are focused on protecting their breeding sites and controlling invasive species.
