Snares Penguin

Eudyptes robustus Oliver, 1953

Snares Penguin, Eudyptes robustus, is a penguin of Australasia that breeds on the Snares I. south of South I., New Zealand, and ranges into waters off the south of South I. outside the breeding season. It was described by Oliver in 1953. Its breeding sites are confined to the Snares Islands, a small island group off New Zealand’s southern coast. The bird is marked by a yellow crest that runs above the eye and hangs down in a bushy shape, with bare pink skin at the base of a large red-brown bill.
