Pagodroma nivea
The Snow Petrel (Pagodroma nivea) is a small, pure white seabird found in the Antarctic region. With a wingspan of about 75-95 cm, it is well adapted to its harsh environment, using its powerful flight to cover vast distances over the sea ice and open ocean. Snow Petrels primarily feed on krill and small fish, and they are known for their graceful flight and distinctive call. They nest on cliffs and rocky outcrops, often in large colonies, and are well adapted to the extreme cold and strong winds of the Antarctic. These birds are a symbol of the pristine and remote polar regions, and are uniquely adapted to survive in one of the harshest environments on Earth.
