Snow's Antwren

Myrmotherula snowi

Snow's Antwren is a small passerine bird found in the Amazon rainforest of South America. It is characterized by its distinctive black and white plumage, with the male having a black crown and the female having a white throat. These birds forage for insects and small invertebrates in the dense understory of the forest, often in mixed-species flocks. They are known for their high-pitched calls and active behavior. Snow's Antwrens are monogamous and build dome-shaped nests in the low vegetation. Despite being locally common, their population is declining due to habitat loss and fragmentation.
