Socorro Parakeet, Psittacara brevipes, is a parrot of Socorro Island in the Revillagigedo Islands of Mexico. It belongs to the family Psittacidae and was described by Lawrence in 1871. It is the only breeding parakeet on the island and is confined to this Middle American locality. The bird is treated as a full species by the IOC. It lives in forests where Bumelia socorrensis, Ilex socorroensis and Guettarda insularis are important plants, and it is usually recorded above 500 m. It is sedentary and nests in tree cavities.
