Streptopelia xanthocycla
The Socotra Collared Dove (Streptopelia xanthocycla) is a medium-sized dove species found in the Socotra archipelago in the Indian Ocean. It has a distinctive appearance with a pale grey head, neck, and underparts, and a contrasting dark collar on the nape. The upperparts are a warm brownish-gray, and the tail is long and tapered. These doves are often found in open woodlands, cultivated areas, and urban environments, where they forage for seeds and grains on the ground. They are known for their gentle cooing calls and are often seen in pairs or small flocks. The Socotra Collared Dove is not currently evaluated for conservation status by the IUCN, and its population trend is unknown.
