The Socotra sparrow (Passer insularis) is a small bird species endemic to the Socotra archipelago in the Indian Ocean. It is characterized by its distinctive plumage, with a brownish-gray back, pale underparts, and a black bib on the throat of males. These sparrows are often found in arid and semi-arid habitats, such as rocky slopes, wadis, and coastal plains. They are known for their agile foraging behavior, hopping and pecking for seeds and insects. The Socotra sparrow is considered to be of least concern according to the IUCN Red List, with a stable population and no major threats identified.
