Solander's Petrel

Solander's Petrel is a medium-sized seabird with a wingspan of around 85-95 cm. It has a dark grey upperparts and white underparts, with a distinctive M-shaped pattern on its upperwings. This species is known for its graceful and agile flight, often gliding low over the water. Solander's Petrel breeds on remote islands in the southern Pacific Ocean and spends much of its life at sea, foraging for fish and squid. It is a highly pelagic species, rarely coming close to land except during the breeding season. Threats to this species include predation by introduced species on breeding islands and accidental bycatch in fishing gear.
