Sooty Falcon

The Sooty Falcon (Falco cuvierii) is a medium-sized bird of prey found in the Middle East and parts of Africa. It is known for its swift flight and striking appearance. This species has a dark sooty plumage with a contrasting white throat and underparts. Sooty Falcons are skilled hunters, preying on small birds and insects. They are often found in arid coastal areas and open deserts, where they nest on cliffs and rock ledges. The Sooty Falcon is a migratory bird, traveling long distances between its breeding and wintering grounds. Despite facing threats from habitat loss and disturbance, its conservation status is currently listed as Least Concern by the IUCN.
