Pycnonotus conradi
The sooty-headed bulbul (Pycnonotus conradi) is a small passerine bird found in the forests and woodlands of Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive sooty-black head and upperparts, contrasting with a white throat and underparts. The species is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. Sooty-headed bulbuls are primarily frugivorous, feeding on a variety of fruits, berries, and insects. They are often observed in small groups or pairs, foraging in the mid to upper levels of the forest canopy. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to their populations.
