The sooty-headed bulbul (Pycnonotus aurigaster) is a medium-sized songbird found in Southeast Asia. It is characterized by its distinctive sooty-black head and throat, contrasting with a white belly and yellow vent. The upperparts are olive-brown with a slight tinge of grey. This bulbul is known for its melodious and varied songs, often heard in the forest canopy. It is an adaptable species, inhabiting a range of forested habitats including tropical and subtropical moist lowland forests, as well as secondary growth and gardens. The sooty-headed bulbul is an important seed disperser and contributes to the ecological balance of its habitats.
