Sooty Swift

Sooty Swift, Cypseloides fumigatus, is a swift of eastern South America, breeding in eastern Bolivia, eastern Paraguay, north-eastern Argentina and south-eastern Brazil. It is a year-round resident across its range. The bird is mainly associated with evergreen montane, tropical and temperate forest, and has also been recorded in secondary woodland, scrub and marshes. It nests on rock faces, usually on cliff ledges and often close to waterfalls or even behind them. The nest is a cup or crescent made from moss, ferns, leaves, pebbles and mud, and it lays a single egg.
