Cinnyris sovimanga
The Souimanga Sunbird, also known as the Green Sunbird, is a small, colorful bird found in the forests and woodlands of Madagascar. This species is known for its vibrant green and yellow plumage, with the males displaying iridescent colors during the breeding season. Souimanga Sunbirds primarily feed on nectar from flowers, using their long, curved bills to extract the sweet liquid. They also consume small insects and spiders as a source of protein. These sunbirds are important pollinators, contributing to the biodiversity of their habitat. Despite their relatively stable population, habitat loss and fragmentation pose threats to their long-term survival.
