South Georgia Diving Petrel, Pelecanoides georgicus, is a petrel of the Southern Ocean, breeding on subantarctic islands from South Georgia through the southern Indian Ocean to Heard Island and Codfish Island. It was described in 1916 by Murphy and Harper. A member of the Procellariidae, it is a small, auk-like diving petrel and is very similar to the common diving petrel. It nests in colonies, usually in burrows on scree slopes above the vegetation line, though it sometimes uses flat ground. Its breeding range includes South Georgia, the Prince Edward Islands, the Crozet Islands and the Kerguelen Islands.
