Southern Beardless Tyrannulet

Camptostoma obsoletum (Temminck, 1824)

Southern Beardless Tyrannulet, Camptostoma obsoletum, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that breeds from Middle America into South America, from Costa Rica to Uruguay. It occurs in Costa Rica, Panama and across much of mainland South America, and is also present on Trinidad. A notable feature is its long, pointed bill, which gives it a warbler-like look. It is a small bird, and the sexes share the same plumage. It is found in a wide range of habitats, including dry scrub, forest edges, secondary growth, parks and gardens, while usually avoiding the heart of continuous humid forest.
