Southern Chestnut-breasted Wren, Cyphorhinus thoracicus, is a wren of the family Troglodytidae that breeds in central Peru and western Bolivia. It was described by Tschudi in 1844. It is associated with wet montane forest, including cloud forest rich in epiphytes and moss, and is usually found between 1,200 and 2,700 m, though it reaches 800 m in Peru’s Manú Province. It was once treated as the same species as the northern chestnut-breasted wren, but is now split from it on the basis of marked vocal differences.
