Southern Fulmar

Fulmarus glacialoides (Smith, A, 1840)

Southern Fulmar, Fulmarus glacialoides, breeds on Antarctic coasts and nearby islets, and ranges through southern oceans outside the breeding season as far as the pack-ice and the Humboldt Current off Chile and Peru. It is a member of the petrel family within the order Procellariiformes, and was described by Smith in 1840. The bird is also called the Antarctic fulmar or silver-grey fulmar. A notable feature is the white patch on the wing.
