Southern House Wren, Troglodytes musculus, is a wren of Middle America and South America, breeding from southern Mexico to southern Chile and southern Argentina. It was first described in 1823 by JF Naumann. The bird belongs to the family Troglodytidae and the order Passeriformes. It is a very small passerine, and its name refers to its habit of slipping into crevices for shelter or while hunting insects. It was once treated as part of the northern house wren group, but is now recognised separately.
