Southern Hyliota

Hyliota australis

The Southern Hyliota is a small insectivorous bird found in the woodlands and savannas of southern Africa. It is characterized by its distinctive white eyebrow and black mask. The upperparts are greyish-blue, and the underparts are pale yellow. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often delivered from a prominent perch. It forages actively for insects in the canopy and mid-levels of trees. The Southern Hyliota is a monogamous species, and both parents participate in building the cup-shaped nest and caring for the young.
