Southern Nightingale-Wren, Microcerculus marginatus, is a wren of Middle America and South America, breeding from Costa Rica through western Amazonia. It belongs to the Troglodytidae family and was described by Sclater in 1855. It lives in the lower storeys of dense humid tropical forest. The species is split into six subspecies, with some forms sometimes treated separately. Its range includes Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Peru, Bolivia and Brazil, extending across Amazonia to near the river mouth in Brazil.
