Southern Tropical Pewee, Contopus cinereus, is a passerine of the tyrant flycatcher family that breeds in southern and south-eastern Brazil, Paraguay and northern Argentina. It is a small bird of semi-open country, including light woodland, secondary growth, plantations and forest edges. The species is marked by a dark crown with a slight crest, a thin pale eye-ring, and two narrow wing bars. It is mostly a resident, though the north-western Argentine population is partly migratory. It also occurs as a rare migrant in south-eastern Peru.
