Pitohui uropygialis (Gray, GR, 1862)

Southern Variable Pitohui, Pitohui uropygialis, is a bird of Australasia, breeding on Salawati and Misool in the Raja Ampat Islands, the Aru Islands, and in north-western and southern New Guinea. It belongs to the Oriolidae family and was described by Gray in 1862. It lives in subtropical or tropical moist lowland forests. One notable feature is that it is among the few birds known to be poisonous, with homobatrachotoxins present in its feathers and skin.
