Souza's Shrike

Souza's Shrike, Lanius souzae, is a passerine in the shrike family that breeds in central Africa. It lives in woodland and savanna, especially miombo, where the trees are more open, and it is also recorded from lightly wooded gardens in some places. The species is largely resident, though some birds may shift locally in the dry season. It was first described in 1878 by Barboza du Bocage. Souza's Shrike is named for José Augusto de Sousa, a Portuguese zoologist.
