Speckle-chested Piculet

Picumnus innominatus

The Speckle-chested Piculet is a small woodpecker found in the tropical forests of South America. It has a distinctive speckled chest and a mottled brown and black plumage. This species is known for its rapid drumming on trees as it searches for insects and larvae. It is often found in the mid to upper levels of the forest, and its small size allows it to maneuver easily among branches and foliage. The Speckle-chested Piculet is generally not considered to be globally threatened, although local populations may be affected by habitat loss and fragmentation.
