Speckle-fronted Weaver
Sporopipes frontalis
The Speckle-fronted Weaver is a small, sparrow-sized bird found in the grasslands and savannas of eastern and southern Africa. It is known for its distinctive black and white speckled plumage on the face and chest, with a yellowish-brown back and wings. These weavers are highly social birds, often seen in flocks foraging for seeds and insects on the ground. They construct intricate, dome-shaped nests from grass and twigs, often suspended from the tips of grass stems. The Speckle-fronted Weaver is not currently considered to be at risk, but habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
