Poodytes carteri (North, 1900)
Spinifexbird, Poodytes carteri, is a bird of inland Australia, breeding across north-west Western Australia to north-west Queensland in north-central Australia. It is a locustellid, and both sexes look the same. The bird is identified by its rich brown cap, golden brown wings marked with streaks, and long tail. It is also called Carter's desertbird, a name linked to Thomas Carter, an English ornithologist and pastoralist who worked in Western Australia from 1887 to 1928.
