Spix's Spinetail, Synallaxis spixi, is a bird of the ovenbird family found in south-east Brazil, eastern Paraguay, north-east Argentina and Uruguay. It was described by Sclater in 1856. Its breeding range runs from south-east Brazil through eastern Paraguay and most of Uruguay into Argentina. The species is a resident across its range. It lives in dense, low vegetation in a range of Atlantic Forest habitats, including fields, pastures, gallery forest, campo rupestres, restinga, savanna and scrubby regrowth. It is a monotypic species, and its name honours Johann Baptist von Spix.
