Xiphorhynchus spixii (Lesson, RP, 1830)

Spix's Woodcreeper, Xiphorhynchus spixii, is a passerine of the Furnariidae family found in south-east Amazonia, in northeastern Brazil south of the Amazon. It is a forest bird of humid evergreen woodland, especially terra firme, though it also uses várzea. It is mainly a bird of the forest interior, but it can occur in secondary growth and, less often, at the edge of woodland. It has a longish, slim, slightly downcurved bill, and the sexes look alike. The species is monotypic and is usually seen as a resident throughout its range.
