Spot-bellied Bobwhite, Colinus leucopogon, is a New World quail of Middle America, breeding from Guatemala to Costa Rica. It lives in open savanna with bushes and trees, as well as other open woodland. The bird is ground-dwelling and has six recognised subspecies. In north-western Honduras, the form known as Colinus leucopogon leylandi is recorded. The species is sometimes treated as the same as the crested bobwhite, but the Costa Rican subspecies is the least like that bird.
