Cypseloides senex
The Spot-fronted Swift (Cypseloides senex) is a medium-sized swift found in the Andes mountains of South America. It is known for its distinctive white spot on the forehead, which contrasts with the dark plumage. These swifts are highly aerial, spending most of their lives in flight, and are often seen in flocks darting through the sky in search of flying insects. They nest in crevices on cliff faces and are well adapted for life in the high-altitude, rugged terrain of the Andes. Spot-fronted Swifts play an important role in controlling insect populations and are a fascinating species to observe in their natural habitat.
