Dinopium everetti (Tweeddale, 1878)
Spot-throated Flameback, Dinopium everetti, is a woodpecker of the sw Philippines, breeding in Palawan, Balabac and the Calamian Islands. It is tied to lowland forest and open woodland, and also uses plantations and clearings when trees remain. A key feature is its much smaller white eyebrow than the Common flameback, along with more mottled underparts; females show a red nape. It is found in moist forest, including primary and secondary stands, and can occur in coconut plantations. The species is uncommon and faces habitat loss.
