Spot-winged Wood Quail, Odontophorus capueira, is a New World quail of eastern and south-eastern South America, with its breeding range running from eastern Brazil into north-eastern Argentina and eastern Paraguay. It belongs to the family Odontophoridae and was described by Spix in 1825. It lives in dry lowland forest, including secondary growth, and is associated with the ground. The bird is known for a loose crest and a reddish-brown crown marked with buff, while the face, throat and underparts are slate-grey. The female is slightly smaller than the male.
