Spotless Starling

Sturnus unicolor

The Spotless Starling is a medium-sized passerine bird native to southwestern Europe and northwestern Africa. It is characterized by its glossy black plumage with a metallic sheen and distinctive pale blue eyes. This species is known for its gregarious nature and often forms large flocks, especially during the non-breeding season. Spotless Starlings are opportunistic feeders, consuming a varied diet that includes insects, fruits, and seeds. They are commonly found in open woodlands, agricultural areas, and urban environments, where they build their nests in tree cavities or man-made structures. Despite being widespread, the Spotless Starling faces threats from habitat loss and competition with other cavity-nesting species.
