Spotted Antbird

Hypocnemoides maculicauda

The Spotted Antbird (Hypocnemoides maculicauda) is a small insectivorous bird found in the tropical forests of Central and South America. It is known for its distinctive black and white plumage, with a spotted pattern on its back and wings. This species is often found foraging on the forest floor, using its long legs and slender bill to search for insects and small invertebrates. The Spotted Antbird is known for its complex vocalizations, including a variety of calls and songs used for communication and territorial defense. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation pose potential risks to its populations.
