Spotted Antbird

Hylophylax punctulatus

The Spotted Antbird is a small, insectivorous bird found in the understory of tropical forests in South America. It is known for its distinctive spotted plumage and its habit of foraging on the ground and in low vegetation for insects and small invertebrates. This species is often observed in mixed-species foraging flocks, where it plays a key role in ant-following behavior. The Spotted Antbird is known for its clear, whistled calls that are often heard in the early morning and late afternoon. Although not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and fragmentation are potential threats to its populations.
