Streptopelia tranquebarica
The Spotted Dove, also known as Streptopelia tranquebarica, is a small and slender dove species found in a variety of habitats across Asia and the Pacific. This bird is easily recognized by its pale grayish-brown plumage adorned with black spots on the wings and back. It has a soft, cooing call that is often heard in urban and rural areas. Spotted Doves are ground feeders and primarily forage for seeds and grains. They are known for their gentle and peaceful nature, often seen in pairs or small flocks. Despite being adaptable to human-modified landscapes, habitat loss and hunting pose threats to their populations in some regions.
