Elachura formosa (Walden, 1874)

Spotted Elachura, Elachura formosa, is a passerine bird of the Oriental Region, breeding from the Himalayas to south-east China and central Vietnam. It lives in forest, especially moist montane woodland, and is associated with undergrowth and dense thickets. It is the only member of Elachuridae, a family created for this bird alone. First described by Walden in 1874, it was once placed with the babblers, but later study showed it to be separate from them and without any close living relatives within Passerida.
