Spotted Greenshank

Tringa guttifer

The Spotted Greenshank (Tringa guttifer) is a medium-sized wader found in East Asia. It has a distinctive spotted appearance on its upperparts, with a white belly and underparts. During the breeding season, the Spotted Greenshank inhabits wetlands, marshes, and coastal areas, where it forages for small invertebrates and fish. Outside the breeding season, it migrates to estuaries and mudflats. This species is known for its melodious, flute-like calls. The Spotted Greenshank faces threats from habitat loss and degradation, as well as disturbance during migration and wintering grounds. Its conservation status is currently listed as Near Threatened by the IUCN.
