Spotted Palm Thrush

Cichladusa guttata

The Spotted Palm Thrush (Cichladusa guttata) is a small, insectivorous bird found in the woodlands and savannas of sub-Saharan Africa. It is characterized by its distinctive spotted plumage, with a mottled brown and white pattern that provides excellent camouflage among the dappled light of its forest habitat. This species is known for its melodious and varied song, often heard during the breeding season. Spotted Palm Thrushes forage on the ground for insects and small invertebrates, using their sharp beaks to probe leaf litter and soil. While not currently considered threatened, habitat loss and degradation are potential concerns for this species.
