Spotted Redshank

Tringa erythropus

The Spotted Redshank is a striking wading bird with long, bright red legs and a long, slightly upturned bill. During the breeding season, its plumage is mainly black with white spots, while in winter, it becomes more grayish. This bird is known for its distinctive, melodious call. It breeds in the Arctic and winters in Africa, southern Asia, and Australasia. The Spotted Redshank forages in shallow water, using its long bill to probe for insects, crustaceans, and small fish. It is often found in coastal wetlands, estuaries, and mudflats.
