Rhynchotus maculicollis
The Spotted Tinamou is a medium-sized bird found in South America, particularly in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. It inhabits dense tropical and subtropical forests, as well as savannas and grasslands. This shy and elusive bird is known for its intricate spotted plumage, which provides excellent camouflage in its preferred habitats. The Spotted Tinamou is primarily a ground-dwelling bird, foraging for seeds, fruits, and invertebrates. Due to habitat loss and hunting, its population is declining in some areas, leading to a conservation status of Near Threatened according to the IUCN Red List.
