The Spotted Wood Owl (Strix seloputo) is a medium-sized owl found in Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive spotted plumage, with prominent ear tufts and large, dark eyes. This owl is known for its haunting hoots and is often found in lowland forests, wooded areas, and plantations. It preys on small mammals, birds, and insects, using its keen eyesight and silent flight to hunt effectively at night. The Spotted Wood Owl is a solitary bird, and pairs are only seen together during the breeding season. Despite facing habitat loss and fragmentation, this owl is adaptable and can also be found in urban areas.
