Square-tailed Drongo
Dicrurus ludwigii (Smith, A, 1834)
Dicruridae — Drongos
Square-tailed Drongo, Dicrurus ludwigii, is a passerine in the drongo family that breeds in eastern and southern Africa. It is a resident bird of forests and thick bush, and is known for its square-ended tail, which helps separate it from the fork-tailed drongo. It has a heavy black bill and a red eye, and the male is mostly glossy black with duller wings. The female is similar but less shiny. It stands upright on short legs, and its nest is placed high in a tree fork.
