St. Lucia Amazon

Amazona versicolor

The St. Lucia Amazon, scientifically known as Amazona versicolor, is a striking parrot species found on the Caribbean island of St. Lucia. These birds are known for their vibrant plumage, which features a combination of green, blue, and red feathers. St. Lucia Amazons are primarily found in the island's lush rainforests and mountainous regions, where they feed on a variety of fruits, seeds, and nuts. Unfortunately, due to habitat loss and illegal trapping for the pet trade, the St. Lucia Amazon is considered critically endangered, with only a few hundred individuals remaining in the wild. Conservation efforts are underway to protect and preserve this beautiful parrot species.
