Standard-winged Nightjar, Caprimulgus longipennis, is a nightjar of Africa, breeding from Senegal and Gambia east to south-west Sudan and Uganda. It is a resident breeder across this range and is found in lightly wooded savanna, scrub and agricultural land within thicker savanna. During the breeding season, the male develops a striking pair of elongated ornamental flight feathers, each on a wing, which are carried behind in normal flight and shown up in display. The species was first described by Shaw in 1796.
